Habang nakikinig ako sa Q&A kasama ang mga kapwa ko media, napatingin ako sa harapan — and there they were: Vice Governor Lita Aquino, 1st District Board Member Pearl Pacada, and Paniqui Mayor Kat Roxas.
Three women. Confident. Grounded. Commanding the room not with noise, but with presence.
Hindi mo maikakaila — politics in the Philippines has long been a space dominated by men. But times are changing. And in that room, you could actually feel that shift.
It was empowering.
As we celebrate Women’s Month, moments like this remind us that leadership has no gender — only vision, courage, and heart. Women are no longer just participating in governance; they are shaping it, leading it, and redefining it.
From policy discussions to community development, from local festivals like Kanlahi to larger provincial decisions, women leaders are proving that empathy and strength can coexist. That firmness can be delivered with grace. That public service can carry both authority and compassion.
Women’s Month is not just about celebration. It is about recognition. Recognition of the struggles women endured to earn their seat at the table. Recognition of the battles fought quietly behind closed doors. Recognition that equality is not given — it is claimed.
And seeing these leaders recently, you realize: the next generation of young girls watching will grow up believing they belong in those seats too.
That is the real progress.
To all women in public service, in media, in business, in our homes — we honor you this month. Your voice matters. Your leadership matters. Your presence changes the room.
Happy Women’s Month. 💜
