DPWH opens new 70.7-meter Abacan Bridge in Angeles City, easing traffic and boosting connectivity between Barangays Ninoy Aquino and Pulung Maragul.

Angeles City, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) has officially opened the newly constructed Abacan Bridge to the public, offering a vital new link to improve mobility and ease traffic congestion in Angeles City.

Spanning 70.7 meters, the new bridge traverses the Abacan River and connects Barangay Ninoy Aquino and Barangay Pulung Maragul. Constructed under the DPWH’s Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) initiative, the bridge features a durable, future-ready design incorporating bored pile foundations, piers, abutments, and a reinforced concrete deck slab.

The project also includes upgraded approach roads and intersections, with added pedestrian-friendly features such as sidewalks and guardrails to ensure safety and accessibility for all road users.

“This bridge not only facilitates a faster, more efficient route for motorists and commuters but also strengthens the backbone of urban development in Angeles City,” said [Insert Name], DPWH Pampanga 3rd DEO spokesperson. “It represents our commitment to sustainable infrastructure that delivers long-term, practical benefits to communities.”

By significantly reducing travel time and enhancing mobility, the newly opened Abacan Bridge is expected to improve emergency response, support local commerce, and stimulate economic growth in surrounding areas.

With the bridge now fully operational, residents and businesses can look forward to seamless travel and better connectivity—marking another milestone in DPWH’s mission to build smarter, safer, and more inclusive infrastructure across the country.
