How Arron Villaflor Proved His Critics Wrong and Kept his Promise
One year later, the actor-turned-politician is showing what real public service looks like.

About a year ago today, I sat down for an interview with Arron Villaflor — yes, the same actor we used to see on TV — this time over 91.1 FM Jelexie Radio, not as a celebrity guest, but as a first-time politician.

As a former station manager of Muews Radio, I’ve talked to countless politicians through the years. You just know when someone’s running for public office for power… and when someone’s running to serve. So I asked Arron straight: “Why are you running?”

Honestly, I had doubts back then. He was new, young, and came from showbiz — not exactly the traditional mold for a public servant. But he answered me with sincerity, laid out his plans, and said "If I win, I do all i  can to help, thats my promise"

Fast forward to today, and I can say this without hesitation — he kept that promise.

The Board Member with a Heart

Unlike some board members who, for lack of a better word, can be kuripot when it comes to helping others, Arron Villaflor stood out. He didn’t just rely on his office’s limited budget. He found ways — often using his own money — to help people in need.

I once asked him, “Why do you do that when you don’t have to?” He just smiled and said, “I promised to serve and do all i can to help”

That’s rare these days — a politician who values integrity over image.

Compassion Beyond Borders

When the earthquake hit Cebu, many politicians sent thoughts and prayers. Arron did more — he flew there personally, bringing help from his own pocket. He was criticized online, even by some fellow board members, but that didn’t stop him.

That moment showed who he truly is — not perfect, but real, compassionate, and unafraid to act when others hesitate.

Putting Tarlaqueños on the Map

As if his service wasn’t enough, Arron also made Tarlaqueños proud on the big screen through his role as Joven in the film “Quezon” — part of the Bayaniverse Trilogy, now showing in cinemas nationwide.

He represented Tarlac not just in government halls, but in Philippine cinema — proving that public service and artistry can go hand in hand.

The People’s Choice

Arron’s charm isn’t just from his showbiz past. It’s his genuine openness to people — rich or poor, young or old, farmer or fan. He never says no to a selfie, never chooses who to stand beside. For him, every Tarlaqueño deserves respect.

Why This Matters to Every Filipino

In a time when many politicians are plastic, when promises fade after the campaign ends, seeing someone like Arron Villaflor gives hope. He reminds us that leadership isn’t about age or background — it’s about compassion, honesty, and the courage to stand by your word.

If he keeps this up, don’t be surprised if we see him rise even higher — maybe as Vice Governor, or even Mayor come 2028. The Gen Zs already adore him, and the older generation is starting to take notice.

Because in the end, politics needs fewer actors pretending to care — and more public servants who act from the heart.

Do you think more young leaders like Arron Villaflor could change how politics works in the Philippines?
