In a splendid showcase of Rotaract excellence, Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines, played host to the prestigious GEAR Awards 2024. With a gentle breeze and warm hospitality, the city welcomed Rotaractors from across the ten (10) districts of the Philippines to an evening filled with celebration, recognition, and camaraderie.
On May 11, 2024, the halls of Baguio City resonated with the spirit of service as over a hundred Rotaractors, adorned in their native and cultural Filipina attire, gathered for the much-anticipated GEAR Awards 2024. This grand ceremony aimed not only to honor the outstanding contributions of Rotaractors but also to acknowledge the profound impact of their clubs, services, and projects on communities nationwide.
With more than 600 individuals receiving accolades in the form of plaques, certificates, and medals, the GEAR Awards underscored the essence of genuine passion and commitment to community service. Embodying this year's Rotary theme, Rotaractors emerged as the hope and the creators of hope in their respective communities.
The success of the GEAR Awards 2024 was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO, led by the Pilipinas Rotaract Multi-District Information Organization Chair Jeric Chua, in partnership with the Rotaract Clubs of Rotary International District 3790. Together, they paved the way to the road of success, highlighting what it is to be a Rotaractor and what it is to be a part of service in Rotary International.
In the resounding success of this event, the Rotaract Clubs of Rotary International District 3790’s very own District Rotaract Representative Michael Aguada served as the Overall Event Coordinator, Immediate Past District Rotaract Representative Allan Klietz Jr., and Assistant District Rotaract Representative Roger Legaspi Jr. as the Overall Event Co-Coordinators, while District Secretary Keanu Malig served as the Registration Committee Chair, Assistant District Rotaract Representative Glen Tinaripe as the Finance Committee Chair, Area of Focus Chair Nhapoleon Cabahug Jr. as the Program Committee Chair, and District Chief of Staff Lloyd Salazar as the Awards and Plaque Committee Chair during the GEAR Awards 2024.
As the night drew to a close, Pilipinas Rotaract Multi-District Information Organization Chair Jeric Chua delivered a poignant farewell speech, marking the culmination of two years of dedication, resilience, and excellence. A jubilant toast, led by the Imaginative and Hope-Creating District Rotaract Representatives, capped off the festivities, leaving a lasting impression of inspiration and commitment to service.
The GEAR Awards 2024 not only celebrated past achievements but also served as a catalyst for future endeavors, reaffirming the unwavering commitment of Rotaractors to uphold the values of Rotary International. In highlighting their significant influence on Filipino communities, the event underscored the crucial role of young leaders in driving positive change across the nation.
