Amid the candles and quiet prayers this Undas season, pet owners in Quezon City gathered at the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) compound to remember their beloved fur babies who have passed away.
On Friday, October 31, flowers and heartfelt notes adorned the Pet Memorial Wall of PAWS — each tile representing a life once filled with love, companionship, and joyful memories.
Built in 2007, the Pet Memorial Wall serves as a sanctuary for grieving pet owners. It allows them to honor and immortalize their departed cats, dogs, and other animal companions in a dignified, compassionate space.
For many visitors, it’s more than just a wall — it’s a place of healing. Some sat quietly before their pet’s tile, whispering names, while others lit candles and shared stories of the unconditional love their furry friends once gave.
PAWS Executive Director Anna Cabrera has previously said that the memorial wall stands as a reminder of the deep bond between humans and animals, underscoring the group’s mission to promote kindness and respect for all creatures.
As Undas traditions expand beyond remembering human loved ones, the growing practice of honoring pets reflects how animals have truly become part of the Filipino family — gone, but never “fur-gotten.”
