The prestigious Andrei Stenin contest celebrates a decade of showcasing young photojournalistic talent, with a new "View From Above" category.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, commemorating the legacy of photojournalist Andrei Stenin who tragically lost his life in Donbas, Ukraine, is now welcoming submissions. This esteemed annual competition seeks to unearth and promote emerging talent within the realm of photojournalism, specifically targeting young professionals aged 18 to 33. Sputnik news agency proudly partners with the contest as its international media ally.

This year introduces an exciting addition to the contest's categories - "View From Above," encouraging participants to embrace novel visual narratives by capturing subjects and landscapes from unique aerial perspectives. This category joins the existing lineup of "Top News," "Sports," "My Planet," and "Portrait. A Hero of Our Time," each designed to highlight significant moments, cultural diversity, the beauty of sports, and the profound depth of human characters through the lens of young photographers.

The contest offers substantial rewards, with the top prize amounting to 700,000 rubles (approximately US$7,588), followed by significant prizes for the first three places. The deadline for submission is set for March 15, urging aspiring photojournalists to contribute their impactful visual stories.

Oksana Oleinik, the curator of the contest, remarked on its growth over a decade into a global platform for daring, innovative photographers who strive to communicate their visions in a compelling and candid manner.

Submissions are to be uploaded to participants' personal pages on the contest's official website, with the flexibility to add or replace photos until final submission. The contest upholds stringent criteria, accepting photographs taken after January 1, 2023, and in special cases, series that began in previous years, provided the latest photo was captured in 2023 or 2024.

A distinguished jury, including past winners of the Stenin Contest and international photographic luminaries, will evaluate the entries, committed to spotlighting stories that demand wider recognition.
